SHAME: A painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior.
Many years ago when we had to hospitalize my Grandmother, she shared a room with a senile woman who every time we walked into the room would look right at us and say, “Be ashamed of yourselves“. I’m chuckling as I write this but at the time, she scared the holy hell out me. I hated going to the convalescent hospital; the smell, the sounds, the people, everything about it made me physically sick but my mother would force me to go, saying things like, “This might be his/her last day..” Anyway, the guilt trip always worked, and I survived.
As I was praying today, I asked the LORD not to let HIS people feel humiliated or ashamed for their faith. I love faith and I love to see it manifest in people’s lives. My husband and I consider ourselves to be philanthropists, and accordingly, there are many times that I wish I could cut short trials & tribulations of those around me out of fear that they may give up, but I know that each one is called and given a measure of faith in order to accomplish their tasks; and my job isn’t to see it through, but to encourage those who are seeking.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” Heb 11:6
Without faith, you will never be victorious. Without faith, you cannot please GOD – And to have it, you must walk by what you know to be true inside (which can be swayed if you allow it).
In a world which operates in fleeting trends and shifting tangibility, it’s easy to feel lost and to question your way, but blame and shame have no place in your heart. If you tried something and it didn’t work, it may have been timing. If you try it again, approach it with today’s perspective. Always remember that there are many avenues to accomplish a thing so be wise, open, diligent, and determined..
“11 Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.
2 Give a serving to seven, and also to eight, for you do not know what evil will be on the earth.
3 If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth;
And if a tree falls to the south or the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it shall lie. 4 He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know what is the way of the wind, or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, so you do not know the works of God who makes everything.
6 In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand;
For you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good.” Eccl 11:1-6
WHO TOLD YOU, YOU WERE NAKED
9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 So he said, “ I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” Genesis 3:9-11
By what or whose standards do we judge ourselves? If by the world, we are already defeated, and if by GOD, then we are renewed and washed clean day by day.
The world judges by its decaying standards. The world is full of hypocrites who cannot so much as discern the sign of the times; how then can they even know the handy works of GREAT GOD JEHOVAH in you?!
“16 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; 3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.” Matt 16:1-3
Dear BOLD thing, what you are is a lamp not to be hidden under the weight of the world, but rather to shine so bright that people either run to you or repel away. Either way, it is established in the word of GOD and when you resolve to know that earthly measures used to judge a man and his worth are worthless, you will be set free.
“31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32
RECEIVE YOUR COVENANT OF PEACE AND LET GO OF YESTERDAY
54 “Sing, O barren, you who have not borne!
Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not labored with child!
For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord.
2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.
3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited.
4 “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. 5 For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. Isaiah 54:1-5
Yes, indeed, dear warrior, you will never be put to shame by your GOD. And before anyone writes to me insinuating that I’m saying no one needs shame, I’m referring to the body of CHRIST not judging themselves according to the world’s standards.
“For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” Romans 10:11
Shame on those who lie, steal, and cheat to get ahead. Shame on those who falsely accuse GOD’S people.
“May the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me with a lie; but I shall meditate on Your precepts.” Psalm 119:78
